I have a working VMware Workstation Player (VMWP) with Windows 10 Home as the host and Kali Linux 2020.2 as guest OS. I finally assembled everything I found into my answer, and tested it successfully. After completing the configuration, if you go back to the system configuration menu, you should see that there is one shared folder configured.Executed the instructions mentioned in that video, and as expected, that guy on Youtube left out half the story to make it really work - even by reading up on the comments. ![]() To make the shared folder a permanent feature on your guest machine, you'll want to tick the Auto-mount and Make Permanent options.If you're not sure of the specific directory where you created your folder, open the folder you made in Linux, open a terminal, and input the pwd command to print the working directory.Since we made our folder in the Desktop directory, the mount point should be /home/linuxmint/Desktop/Shared_Folder. The Mount Point should lead to the folder you want to use as your shared folder in the guest machine.The Folder Name will be the name of the folder you will see on the guest machine.In our case, we have selected the folder we made earlier, named Shared Folder. The Folder Path should be the folder you want to appoint as the shared folder. ![]() There you click on the add folder icon located on the right side of the window and input the Folder Path, Folder Name, and Mount Point, then click OK.
